What is Binance USD?

The cryptocurrency industry has come so far that there are many different categories of cryptocurrencies now. Binance USD is one which belongs to the new range called stablecoins. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies that are backed by a fiat currency or physical assets to maintain their value and avoid volatility. Binance USD was launched by the popular cryptocurrency exchange Binance in 2019. Binance USD was created in collaboration with Paxos, the firm behind Paxos Standard.

Binance USD is an ERC-20 token and BUSD is its trading ticker. It can be held or traded similarly to other cryptocurrencies. BUSD is pegged to the US Dollar at a ratio of 1:1 which means that the value of 1 BUSD will always be equal to $1 regardless of the market conditions. PAX acts as the custodian for the US Dollars that back the BUSD. Moreover, BUSD is approved by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) which adds more credibility to it.
